If not Cloud, Sora would also be good for cross promotion of Kingdom Hearts III to come out this year. Another option is Dante, who was originally to be a guest in SCIII. Both Capcom and Square Enix have guests in Tekken 7, so perhaps both Cloud and Dante will make it in? Fans would go nuts.

My best guesses would be... Sora from KH3. Cloud from FFVII. Dante from DMC. Kylo Ren to recycle Vader + Apprentice movesets. Killer Instinct characters (Tusk, Spinal) for XBL/Steam exclusives.
