    As an avid reader (not so much player of video games, but I used to be), I have reasoned this. Why people play games:

    Leona has it right, but I would take it a step further and (depressingly) say that the reasons we humans do what we do; be it write, read, game, film, is to escape from reality.

    Did I say it was bad? Not bad, not good, but necessary, else we all lose our minds. Music, literature, games, folklore, mythology, film, whatever your choice, whatever your release. Its part of life :)
