Aw, don't be pissed off. But you should do it and I'm sure people would love systems that support all those things, playing classic games is always fun lol :)

All I can say is that in the Linux world you can at least modify source code and create scripts which not only adds to the abiltity to customize but also troubleshoot. Though yes, it is more technical.

Arch is fun to use, good to learn about the system. I did use it as my main OS for several years. But the quality of their packaging has dropped considerably in recent times. Stuff breaks for no good reason nowadays. So if you're gonna use it, better get a VM or a separate partition. I switched back to Ubuntu for the stability. I'm a Xubuntu user, myself.

You're right, I can recall a few times when everything died after an update. But I guess that's part of the risk you take with rolling releases. I prefer Arch to Ubuntu because of super light initial install. It's easier to customize when you start with pretty much nothing

You can do a minimal install with Ubuntu too. I did that with Precise, and it was really easy to build it up to what I wanted. When Quantal rolled around though, I was quite impressed with stock Xubuntu so I just used that base.
