Throw escapes were not really about reaction in VF5 vanilla. In SOME cases you could maybe react, but usually it was option select stuff, like ETEG. Evade, Throw Escape, Guard. It's still that way in FS, but it's easier to execute and more of a mind game, and now you can simply block normally...

It's always a pleasure to beat the one-string scrubs. Normally I would want to give them some tips, but that bullshit deserves no mercy. I still remember my numerous losses against these one-string scrubs when I was learning everything while following THE PROTOCOL ... like a fool.

Ah, sidestepping is not really about knowing all that much. If you're blocking a string like Cervantes' or Aeon's BBB, you can sidestep the third B and punish it, so knowledge is applicable for that sort of thing, but... Otherwise if your attack was blocked, it's pretty much about anticipation...
