Modding my TE stick or not?

So I got my SF4 TE stick...it's fricken awesome. I've even gone through the trouble of putting it on a stand so it feel EXACTLY like I'm at an arcade.

However...I'm a lil torn. On one hand its quality is immaculate but it is hurting parts of my game play and improving others. Most of it is readjusting from the pad after so much practice with Ivy on it. That will com with time.e

but...

The square gate is a double edge sword. Sure doing iCS has become a dream come true (spamming 8 in a row rapid fire...iCS not CS...felt like heaven). But too often do i get 4, 8, 6, 2 as diagonal on simple moves. 6 turns into 3B, 214B turns into 2147B. I'm even worse with Street Fighter 2 HD. Sure my charge character game has become totally awesome, but my roll characters suffer large. All the QFC and HFC over shoot or under shoot into the diagonals and the move either doesn't complete or 90% of the time my fireball turns into a jumping jab. I think I need an octagonal plate...

So what are my options to buy here? How expensive? I don't know where to get parts or how to install them...Also is there anyway to do this without messing up the warranty? Also if I decide that this item is nothing more than a really nifty toy that doesn't improve my play over pad, I will be auctioning it on eBay. Will having used it slightly and modding it trash it's price? to below the original buy?

I think I need an octagonal plate...

No.

A square gate is set up so that all the borders of its deadzone lead directly into the cardinal directions, 4, 2, 6, 8. Likewise, the diagonals have notches so you can locate them easier.

If your 6B turns into 3B, you're pushing too hard.

See that? (Hear the click?)

Engaging 6 does not mean you have to slam it into the gate- which I assume you're probably doing, because said flat gate will probably guide you into the corners.

You just need more training. You're having problems because you're trying to run before you've learned to crawl.

Try doing drills of just activating cardinal directions.

Also, if you do decide to get an octagonal gate regardless and mod it, you should wait until the 90-day warranty period is over at least.

yeah im kinda worried. I'm really hell bent on becoming prolevel and all and I don't know where to turn my practicing to...pad where my basic tactics are 95% accurate but my iCS and SS are just parlor tricks...or my new fangled $150 stick where iCS and SS are very valid but I'm very inaccurate on basic inputs and i think way more than i should...

sure practice will help...but dialing the rolls and not over shooting has always been an issue for me since I like to ride the gate by nature.
