Modifying controllers?

I'm becoming increasingly interested in modifying a controller(360 standard, lulz) to gain better performance, specifically in regards to the D-pad functionality(and as a cheaper alternative to buying a *GOOD* controller for broke bitches like myself) and improving the physical performance of any other parts possible to do so.

Is there any place good for this kind of info or...?

yes there is and I have a little experience in this. Im trying to find the vid I used. Basically you take a top to a 2 liter soda bottle, cut it to fit into the d-pad slot to give it a more firm and accurate feel to it.

Having trouble finding the vid. Now in my experience with that particular way, it helped to some degree. I like how firm it felt (whoa....keep with me now), but the accuracy was still a little weird. I guess it may have helped with 236 movements but overall it was more trouble than it was worth.

So now that youve wasted your time reading this. I guess I have no real value to contribute to this conversation. Im going back to trying to grab sp1d3rs ass!!

Hori Pad EX-2 is a mere $35 and has undoubtedly the best d-pad of any aftermarket controller for the 360. If you're insistant in modifying your own, keep in mind you're looking at $5-$20 for a replacement/aftermarket d-pad anyway.
