I wish to discuss Sonic Cartoons. I grew up with the DiC cartoons, X, and the OVA series. Boom is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog
Made in 1993, this show features the adventures of Sonic and Tails as the thwart the plans of the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik. This is often said to be Sonic the Hedgehog meets Looney Tunes on steroids.
Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)
A darker and edgier take on the Sonic franchise. Made in 1993, in this series, Dr. Julian Robotnik has taken over the world, polluting the environment and reducing its inhabitants to mindless slaves via Roboticization. It is up Sonic and his band of Freedom Fighters to defeat Robotnik and restore peace to Mobius.
Sonic Underground
The final Sonic adaptation made by DiC. Made in 1999, it's plot is similar to SatAM, but here Sonic is royalty, and he is part of a rock band, made up of himself and his siblings, Sonia and Manic. Their goal is not only to defeat Robotnik, but to also seek out their mother Queen Aleena.
Sonic the Hedgehog the OVA/Movie
A two-part OVA that was merged to make a movie. Made in 1996, Robotnik/ Eggman hatches a plan to destroy Sonic with his new creation, Metal Sonic.
Sonic X
An anime series that was dubbed by 4Kids Entertainment for western audiences. Made in 2003, Sonic and co. are taken to Earth via Chaos Control, where Sonic meets new including Chris Thorndyke.
Sonic Boom
The first western Sonic cartoon released since Sonic Underground. Made in 2014, this is a comedic but still action-paced take on the Sonic franchise (though not on Adventures levels). This series introduces a new character, Sticks the Honey Badger.
