Well...this is scary...

Raphael-Sorel

[01] Neophyte
Reason for the title, I am notoriously horrible at all things video game related. Honestly, I am one of those players who will press every button on the controller and hope for the best. However, with Soul Calibur, it's very different. I know exactly what I'm doing!

Much to the annoyance of opponents, I only use one character. I have mastered most of Raphael's moves and he is always my top choice fighter. His fighting style is pretty impressive and I run the clock out with him more often than not (another thing that annoys opponents). Also, there are certain evasive maneuvers that, when coupled with aggressive attacks, really get people frustrated. All in all, I like Raphael's longevity in the ring and he makes cool noises even when he takes a hit.

One move of his I have seen done but cannot figure out how to do is apparently a combo move where he rushes the opponent and strikes the "Time to perish!" move (Y on XBox360), then he follows up by leaping into the air and striking the opponent with both heels. It looks really cool and I think it's the one move I have yet to pull off.

Well I, sir , am obliged to hate you seeing as I play Zasalamel, and you have a counter for about everything I do :P. Nonetheless welcome to the forum, go check out the Raphael soul arena and learn some fancy new things!

Also what console are you on? Do you use normal controller/pads/stick? How long have you spent with Raphael?

Welcome!
I think the move you are talking about (jump low kick, low stomp) is K:K from Preparation stance.
check out moves that lead into preparation stance, then do K:K, the ":" means you need to specially time the second K.
(Just frame attack, with the shiny flash effect)

Ask in the Raphael Soul Arena for hints to get the exact timing down.

Hey there, welcome to the forums! I am a moderator here, so if you have any questions about the site and where to go just ask!

That's awesome that you're able to finese better in SoulCalibur. Stories like this remind me just how much I love the game. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to one character. A large majority of top players in ANY fighting game generally stick to one charcter. You not only learn the ins and outs of your character from playing them constantly, but you also learn how to fight against the other characters more effectively. You become connected to that character so much that you just know how to deal with certain situations when they present themself. You're on the right track.

Do you play online mostly? I'm going to guess that you do because you seem to fight against alot of different kinds of opponents. We have a section dedicated to online play here: Online Mode (PSN/XBOX) You can post your good games here, and meet up with other players to set up some matches. It's always a good time.

There may also be an offline scene local to you as well. You can find out about that here: Regional Matchmaking if you don't see a post for your area, feel free to create one and see what turns up!

As for your question on Raphael, I do not play this character myself, but I did ask one of our local veterans what this move you described was, and he told me without hesitation: 66(B), prep K:K

If you are unfamiliar with what that means, please take some time to watch this video here, and it will explain the notations, stance abreviations and other stuff for you: 8Wayrun General Directory and Offline Matchfinder Reception If you have any questions after watching this, just ask in here or PM me.

You can also head over to the Raphael SoulArena and get answers from there as well. You'll probably get much better answers than I can give.
