Worth it without multiplayer?

My girlfriend got me SCV for valentines day because she is awesome like that. I've played the last one and got fairly decent with Raphael, but I never really got "into" the game. Or the genre, really. I'm trying, but I don't have the time to find/ join a local group, and I don't see xbox live being worth it for one game. Is it still playable, or will I have to sign up for multiplayer? For that matter, would it be better to get the game on the PS3 and not have to worry about it?

See if you can get your girlfriend to play it with you offline. :p Or if you can get any of your other friends into it. I can't imagine not being able to play online myself, but online definitely has its drawbacks.

First off, your girlfriend is awesome. I'd second what DerLindwum said, try to get her or some friends to play it with you. If you can get some friends to play it with you every now and then, that's better than playing online with random strangers anyways.

You could have fun with it on your own, but if you want to get the most out of it it's best to play with others. It's a social, competitive game after all.

It really depends which version you want. If you want to save money, get the Ps3. Because unlike XBL, you don't have to pay just to play online. PsN allows you to play online as long as you want. Drawbacks are XBL imho has a better netcode than PSN. However, they're just about the same with pros and cons.

SCV is more multiplayered based imho. It forces you to go fight it out with other peeps because there's not much single player modes save the CAS mode. Right now, worry about telling us who you plan to main, where you live(just in case you need offline company), and about yourself and why you joined.
