    Butting in on your random conversation, about which I know nothing: if we are talking about the real, physical world (and not making some sort of metaphorical allusion to an event), then yes, lightning strikes the same places multiple times all the time. It’s a stupid, stupid expression for that reason. Just like “blind as a bat.”
