Controller suggestions?

So I'm in need of a new PS3 controller, but I was thinking of getting something other than the basic Sony one. I was looking at this new Mad Catz MLG one, (http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/01/31/mad-catz-mlg-pro-circuit-controller-review) but that's a pretty hefty price for a controller. For you pad players, what have you had the best experience with? I've heard of tournament pad players using modified Sega Genesis controllers, but that doesn't exactly help me with PS3 games other than SCV.

Also, I have no intention of buying a stick, don't bother, I could never and will not get used to playing with one.

I own the Hori Fighting Commander Pro 3 and it is a very good controller never really took advantage of the 6 button layout but I play Cervantes and I rock well with him. I bought this on Amazon.ca for $34.33.

SNK Neo Geo haven't tried but I heard a lot of good things about this controller. I know for a fact that there's mechanical switches within all buttons and the thumbstick makes a clicky sound. So in other words you got a hyper responsive controller. This one would cost $45 on PlayAsia +$8 for shipping.

Hmm, I did some research into that Hori thing, it does look pretty good. My only question is though, how is that D-pad on your thumbs? I'm no stranger to calluses, but I'm worried about how thin the arms of the pad itself are. Do you experience any discomfort with either of the loosening functions?

The Hori joystick, you mean? Or is there a Hori controller as well that I'm not aware of?

By the way, I was considering either a Mad Catz controller or the Hori joystick myself.

I meant the Commander Pro 3.
