Dark Souls

How did you get iron skin before Karpa? Pyro shop is in depths.

There is an alternate way into Blight Town through the New Londo Ruins/Valley of Drakes. I believe you need the master key though. I suppose he COULD have back tracked into the Depths from there.

Pyro and Drake sword, some of the cheapest things in Dark Souls. I couldn't believe how powerful and convenient they made it. I had so much difficulty when the game started. Me with my silly long sword. In Demon Souls the Dragon long sword took me all the way to the end...I was going for that...except this new long sword has shitty range and upgrades are different. So Copra demon was such bs, leveled up a few then took his ass down...very generic boss when you have the strength.

But the ceaseless discharge motherfucker...is the most recent boss I tackled. I saw that freaking run this way then run towards the fog entrance bait trick. Yeah, that didn't work. Died a lot trying to get that sucker over there. So I read that it can be done with the patch, because it was intended.(bitch is hard) I go sign up for PSN and all, get the patch...still no luck.

So I had to kill it. This guy is probably the most random boss ever. And probably one of the hardest if you're going to tank it with a sword. His flaming attack(when you're too far), sometimes leaves you at half health and is unblockable, so as you manage your health thinking you're safe(You can tank the flame, get up attack the tentacle and heal), but then he freaking one shots you. And it's not like the range of the attack effect's this, it's just random. Up close he doesn't do that stupid flame move, and he's somewhat easier if he just tries to hit you since he usually misses if you're moving. However, that is also random sometimes he will freaking home in on you and you won't even see where his tentacle is, like when running through that crevice. And he also has other random sweeping attacks, and rampaging attacks that can one shot you. I finally killed the bastard, but it was basically all luck. No shield just two handing my zweihander.

So far Smough and Ornstein, Sif and Ceaseless discharge are the more memorable bosses for me. Sm and Or have a badass theme they aint no Penetrator, but they come close to the Demon Souls bosses in looking cool. Sif is a freaking dog swinging a sword around. When I fought this boss I was more marveled by just his beauty(it's a dog/wolf protecting it's masters grave). Unlike all other bosses, I actually felt bad killing that cute thing, even worse when it's starts limping. And Ceaseless discharge is straight BS. Lucky are those who don't have to face him straight.

Sif was a bitch for me. I did not feel bad at all killing him because of how many times i got caught with that god damn double swing of his. And to a lesser extent, how many times i was under his stomach trying to hit him when he suddenly jumps away, disengages my auto lock and slices me before i could turn my shield around. Best thing to do against him is learn his slice range, just barely space it and run in under him for a few good hits. Be prepared to lock back on him when he jumps out. Rinse, repeat.

You say that but I was actually disappointed with his strength. His double swing is something you zone out, otherwise he is relatively easy. My biggest issue with Dark Souls is that these giant bosses don't actually crush you. Imagine if Sif jumping on you actually did damage or drained you stamina blocking his legs. This is really what made the Demon's Souls bosses so difficult. Their bodies had their own hit box. In Dark Souls you can just sit in between a lot of these guys balls and go town on their legs.

Take Tower Knight, flamelurker and Maneaters. If you where anywhere near those bosses bodies, the Tower Knight if he jumped back, it hurt, if any part of him fell on you it hurt a lot, if he was getting up and you were close it hurt. Getting too close to the flamelurker's skin burnt you. And if you were anywhere near the Maneaters when they were jumping off the catwalk, they could send you flying off the ledge. It really felt that these bastards were out to kill you. The Iron Golem fight made me cry a bit.

as for the capra, my first time as pyro i opened the door, cast iron skin and spammed combustion over and over until everything died, just like i did every other boss.

I mean, if you were to climb down valley of the drakes, into blight-town, into the depths, and aaaaallll the way back again then I'd say you'd be a high enough soul level to not even bother. Sounds like a huge waste of time to me, though, on a boss that is relatively cake and gets you into that spot anyway...

I'm going to have to be a realist here and agree with you. I love this game so so much, but the bosses had a lot of potential that was squandered. For one thing, the Asylum Demon is repeated three times (Stray Demon then Covered in Bees... uh... fire). I liked that Taurus becomes a normal enemy along with the gargoyles, because they were uninspired bosses in the first place, but Quelaag was very boring both in design and attacks.

I feel like Gaping Dragon would be a memorable boss if they gave him more attacks or made him harder. I saw his pictures before the game was released and was thinking to myself all the different ways he could attack, but all the designers came up with was the gimmick of him leaning backwards. If they even just sped him up a little it'd make more sense...

Well.... I took a break from this game for a while because of Saint's Row 3. Finished that game, it was fun and this was my first night back to Dark Souls in quite a while and i was greeted with some serious bullshit. The first thing i notice of course was an update, so i'm thinking, "Yeah, they probably patched stuff." Didnt know what though, so i planned to go through and try the infinite soul glitch anyway. I know, i know, that is messed up but as a dex oriented hunter, i need souls for arrows dammit and i dont really feel bad about it because From totally dicked over dex builds in this game. Shity scaling on dex weapons and a much stronger emphasis on strength and magic overall. So i need some consumables in good stock and i'll be damned if i'm going to spend that time over and over farming for that crap when i have as little time to play right now as it is. Whatever, sue me. I was NOT gonna max out my stats or humanity with it anyway.

Anyway, after some slow, careful traveling down the tree, passed the curse gekkos, mushroom duchebags and hydra v2.0, i finally make it to the dragon to find out the glich had been fixed. Was a little dissapointed at first but honestly, i got over it pretty quickly. I mean afterall, if they bothered to remove that, i'm inclined to think other balance issues were fixed in the process so maybe it wont be so bad anyway. I'll just have to put in some time grinding in order to keep my consumable supply up. I kept this "bright side" spirit up almost all the way up the tree. At least i still had a good chunk of humanity active along with about 60 thousand souls. On the way up passed all those ugly curse gekkos, there is a spot that gets a player stuck on a branch while trying to get on a ledge. I did die around that area a few times trying to drop on lower branches to grab loot off those dead bodies but everytime i was able to recover my body, everytime except the last time that is... That branch got me stuck again and even though i was able to find a spot that i could roll onto it twice before, i could not roll over the branch at the third time. I ended up frustratingly running in place at what would be the equivilent to a single step that any person would simply raise their foot in order to get over it but nooooo, i had to end up rolling off the branch and plummeting to my death. By-bye 8 humanity and 60,000 souls. I mean the devs can fix that infinite soul glitch but they cant fix an edge that blocks players from walking up what was clearly supposed to be a simple walkway huh?

The real shitty issue is that From patcing the soul glich doesnt even stop players from clearing up the info from the game on their save and playing offline with no updates just to use the glitch anyway. Then just get back online with whatever they had duplicated. Real cute From, real fucking cute. With all the deaths and lost humany ive dealt with, they were nothing compare to that bullshit. Anyway, Rant end.
