It comes out in november.
Almost everyone was a Halo player at some point. Halo 1 through 3 were amazing games that revolutionized the genre. Halo 1 had a fun multiplayer and an amazing campaign. Halo 2 had a sick multiplayer and a fan's favorite. Halo 3 had Godlike online multiplayer and an hardcore professional scene with MLG.
So yeah Reach, while being a beautiful game and somewhat fun, basically killed the Legendary franchise with heavy changes in movement mechanics and entirely new ones that, being noob friendly and entertaining for a while, threw off the majority of the Halo veterans (Armor Lock).
So, Bungie gave up and passed the baton the 343 Industries to create the real sequel to the Halo series, Halo 4.
So now it's about to come out. Do you think it's gonna live up to the former glory it had in the canon series? Or is it gonna be a sad Halo Reach clone which is gonna die competitively after a few months?
Anyone's opinion is important. Be it former competitive Halo players or casual gamers that just like the game.
Discuss.
Weird. You make no mention of Halo 2's or 3's campaigns. And there's no mention of Halo ODST at all.
The first Halo I played was Halo 1 on the PC. I did eventually play Halo 2 and Halo 3 on my 360 core. Never played ODST or Reach, though. My brother has this unfortunate habit of never letting me play the games we get unless he's ahead of the game before me. If I do get ahead, or if I do beat a game before him, he'll never play it. Regardless of the fact that he's never seen me beat it or not. Eh.
So I did pick up Halo 4 today. Played some co-op campaign with a neighbor then replayed those same areas by myself a little later. Its pretty fun. Although, I'm wondering if the Campaign's quality will nosedive like Halo 2's and 3's does somewhere around the middle. So far, I'm kinda glad that there hasn't been much riding around a vehicle and not caring about all the enemies running about. Halo 2 and Halo 3 got especially bogged down in those vehicle missions where there was simply a ton of enemies you didn't even have to bother with and you were just running down a large corridor in either a warthog or a ghost.
I'm liking the return of the Battle Rifle from Halo 2, but it doesn't quite feel like the old one. Seems harder to stick a sticky grenade (or maybe I'm just rusty). Not quite liking the new controls on the warthog, feels a bit sluggish on the turns. The new Promethean weapons are kinda interesting. Did notice that the Covenant weapons tear up the Knights pretty quickly. Love the new enemy types, Halo was starting to feel a bit stale with Covenant. Don't like the new, weaker, beam swords. Still trying to get a handle on the new armor stuff, camo doesn't seem to work too well, and the big power shield seems like something that might be more for co-op strategies. I did notice that you can't dual-wield anymore. I miss that, as sparse as it was in the campaign.
I'm hoping they flesh some of the backstory a bit more. I know who Dr. Halsey is, though I don't really know about any of the other characters (ie. How do they know the new enemy's name?) I've only read the very first novel of Halo, if I remember correctly, that's Fall of Reach. I'd rather not be scratching my head about what's all going on, so here's hoping there's at least some exposition.
Anyway, three missions done! I have no idea how many more to go. I'm probably not going to touch multiplayer.
