Learning in the arcade?

There used to be a nickel arcade in my hood called wonderland back in the day. You could get on sf2 and mortal kombat (the original) for hours with only like $3!! cost like a $1.50 to get in but your afternoon was filled with only like $5

well im currently doing arcade thing with T6, my 1st time taking arcade serious, so far i would ask if i could practice a couple things on the computer , they say yes then i try a couple times then play them, basically yea, you learn with friends or friendly arcade strangers lol, movelist i went to TZ for combos and learned new moves by just doin them in battle lol, so SF theres shoryuken, tekken TZ , SC 8way so you'd just go there , all in all practice with friends or against computer, get combos from the various websites that supply and have atleast 10-15$ ready to be spent

You'd go to gamefaqs or wherever and print out a movelist. Then you'd study that shit. Then you'd go to the arcade and fuck around with friends. It wasn't until other players showed up that business time started playing in your head. You'd also spend a lot of time in line watching other people play, and if the noise wasn't too bad and you weren't shy, you could ask questions. Still, it was a pain in the ass to get into established games sometimes, but new ones were always up for grabs. I remember in the 90s you could get competition for every stupidfuck fighter released, and in Toronto you could troll up and down Yonge street (there were 4 arcades in an 8 block strip) to find different skill levels. I spend a lot of time learning stupid shit for games like Mace: The Dark Age when I could have been doing something useful.

I miss arcades. :/

Gamefaqs didn't exist in the 90's. I'm pretty sure before it did faqs were pretty much randomly distributed all over the internet. Or sometimes you'd find them bunched up on now defunct sites, on pages like gamespy's planets or in print magazines. Not that it really matters. Just trying to paint the picture accurately for the youth.
