Anyone here reads Bleach manga?
I finished the anime like 3 years ago & just started reading the manga this month.
Started at 480,supposedly where the anime left off,and owhmahgawd it's awesome ♥
They have to continue the anime, and soon!
Hope these rumors about it returning in 2015 are true.
Been reading the bleach manga and been mostly enjoying it. I started reading it ages ago when the newest scanlation was "chad gets the parakeet" In those days there was a lot to love, I kept up with the series until Ichigo and co are getting set to save Rukia, then the people I'd been reading shut their doors and I couldn't find the series so I forgot it for a while. Then the anime came out. Loved it again, got caught up in the middle of the save Rukia arc, watched all the episodes as they were coming out via fansubs, kept this up pretty happily till we hit the bount arc, didn't want filler so I started reading the manga again. Dropped it a few times as copyright assholes pulled it away from me. Started it over and watched it till I was caught up a few times. I've been reading the manga since the animated series stopped. I was before then though, haven't had to drop it again due to the number of scan groups around.
As a long time fan I can say I'm not gonna shit on lasercake's concerns but they are pretty superficial. The real problem with bleach is the amount of character development that has occurred since the end of the Soul Society arc. Which is very little. Scenes like Orihime crying over her feelings of jealousy while Matsumoto comforts her, Tatsuki punching Ichigo and asking if she's not his nakama too or Rukia coming to the conclusion that she will wait until Ichigo wants to talk are some of the best in the series. And after a point they don't happen much. And they aren't really followed up on the way they should be. The bond building and growth is a big part of what made the initial series feel like it was going somewhere, and in that bond building between Ichigo and Rukia's bickering and Chad throwing people, there was a lot of funny stuff. It's like somebody told Kubo he has to focus on fights more, or maybe he's trying to save all the follow through on character development till he's wrapping things up. But either way characterization happens less and less to the point where many Sternritters don't even feel like actual characters and a few have died without showcasing their powers or within pages of their introduction. There have been a lot of missed opportunities, for giving us some feeling of progress or opportunities for entertaining interactions. I'm just gonna quote a post I made on a bleach forum for an example relating to a recent chapter where a group of characters was shot out of a cannon, olden time style, to essentially go "save" Ishida Uryuu from his own botched revenge scheme against the main villain of the arc:

Rukia and Renji know Uryuu and have been friends with him, like Ichigo and the rest. Rukia and Renji have received Royal Guard upgrades, which means they should be able to at least give Bach and the others a decent fight. But because they weren't there with Ichigo the first time he was shot off in a rocket, they don't get to tag along. Ganju, on the other hand, is the complete opposite: he's not close friends with Uryuu and didn't get any special, out-of-this-world, only-for-the-privileged-few upgrades. And yet, he gets to come along anyway.
Why?
ME said:Exactly man. Look I'm not saying we can't have Ganjou but why Ganjou and not Rukia and/or Renji? They're both Uryuu's friends and they're both strong. It would make perfect sense for them to come along and it feels like a snub that after the Hueco Mundo arc neither of them is coming along for the ride.
I feel like there was a real missed opportunity here in sticking to the original field trip crew. Adding Renji and Rukia (original party but now remixed a little) could have let us have that nostalgic feeling but also given us a sense of how far we have come and the things we have gained since the last time Ichigo was shot out of a cannon. We'd have the original party plus the person they were trying to save and one former nemesis. For story purposes bringing the Shinigami nakama along in addition to Ganjou could have given us some new character interactions like Renji getting to know Ganjou (possibly thinking he was annoying or teasing Ichigo by saying they were so much alike) or Ganjou actually getting to know Rukia, who he went through all that trouble trying to save before, and getting to learn she's actually a pretty great person with the experience helping them both to get over any lingering pain regarding Kaien. But alas none of those things can happen now.
It might be possible though that we are being set up for a further heavy handed dose of nostalgia in the future. I can imagine Rukia and Renji showing up and saving Ichigo's bacon should shit hit the fan as they did in the Hueco Mundo arc with a pissed off Rukia asking what she said about leaving her behind and walloping Ichigo.
But anyhow I could go on and on, but that's my two cents. I keep reading the series waiting to see what will happen next but while it could be worse it could also be better imo.
