If you have cats then you know this face well.

The purpose of science and religion is to transcend the limitations what we are. I guess people need that.

I think we do need that... isn't that considered 'evolution' of the species? Is it different because we are making a conscious decision to change our species and the way we live, instead of it just happening? (ie. Giraffes necks grew longer over time because the trees were tall, and food was plentiful at that height)

Is it just me or am I the only person who went from GameFAQS to 8WR WITHOUT causing a huge shitstorm of flame wars?

Also if dancing people need to pee do they use the Can-can?

I do not believe I caused any flame wars. ...and the only dance I can perform is the Nabuta and the Asura. :D

Only different in the dimension that we understand cause and effect. We know our actions have an effect on our future, and that we are propelling ourselves towards that future by our actions. Most animals don't have that. We don't always exercise it but we have it. So we seek out change instead of waiting around for it or letting it fall to random chance. Which is a two sided coin. Progress in any rate is satisfying for people. You want to know your life is headed in some positive direction. I guess that's as important for us as a whole as it is for us as individuals. Our greed and curiosity are also a factor. Giraffe's necks got longer that was fine for them, food became plentiful. We developed agriculture and food became plentiful. But then we said "I want more than that". Very much like evolution though the march of science. Family trees can be drawn that show the evolution of different technologies (ala civilization), and progress is both gradual and with spurts occurring at major events.
