anyone who states that lil wayne is garbage, sucks, can't rap is automatically discredited because you clearly have no idea how to judge rap. While i know lil wayne is far from being the best rapper, i can't deny the man's skill and talent on the mic. It's not a lie when people say he's a monster. this dude is insane with the shit he says. his delivery is unique, his signitaur is entertaining, and he knows how to carry a beat. i mean for what he is, the man has got talent. you can't deny him that. plus i like him simply because he can entertain. the shit he says can be some of the weirdest, out from left field shit that would just make you laugh. and it's genius because when you reflect on what he says, it actually makes sense. the man is talented, respect.
as for Bd's suggestion to say that K-Rhino is the best.... i feel that is debatable as well. Indie/underground rappers stay indie/underground for a reason. yes they have talent. but don't give me crap about it's a matter of pride or i could do this yadayadayada bullshit when we all know niggas got to eat. that said, i feel the best rapper has to be able to adapt to mainstream as well. and in all honesty, as beast as k-rhino is, Joel Ortiz or even big pun (r.i.p) are far better rappers then k-rhino. hell, if you ask me, any member of slaughterhouse is better than k. That's not to say K sucks its just on a scale of the best, he's far from it.
on that note, simply going underground doesn't mean that's where the best rappers lie, in the end they're judged on the same scale as mainstream rappers. how good is their flow? how is their delivery impact the audience? is there a message (most likely) or is it just a narrative or is it to be an entertainer (least likely if we're looking underground). How well do they carry the beat? those are just some levels to judge a rapper..
but seriously, although underground rappers do have talent, hell most rappers that are now mainstream started underground/indie so just cause they hit mainstream shit all of a sudden changed to they're not good or talented? let's be real.
to me, one of the best rappers out in this industry is jay-z. One take hov. he's a rapper, emcee, lyracist, freestlyer, and a man of steel, and entertainer. and he's top notch in all. he's been constantly making hits since the beginning of his career. I'm going to have to give hov my vote.
