OP: If smoothscroll wasn't the problem, it could be Flash's hardware acceleration. Turn that off in the Flash player's settings and see if it helps. The only thing I can stand smooth scroll on is touchscreens. With it off, it scrolls one line per notch in the mouse wheel, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
