The guide...

You were involved? Then I humbly thank you for a truly entertaining and well-made guide. Arguably the best guide for a fighting game I've ever seen! I'm compelled to go read everything I didn't now, to discover more of the funny little things.

And are those things available online? I'd love to give them a read, and you guys deserve to have your talents showcased somewhere, surely?

Either way it's a brilliant book, and anyone considering it ought to just go pick it up.
Thanks dude. I doubt JAG's stuff is still available, maybe on his computer? And maybe Wil still has the unedited documents, I don't know. But it was really funny to read. We had to edit it, not because it was wrong or had bad language (it was the opposite, brilliant written and so charming) but simply because it would have made the book twice as long, and would've been way out of character with the rest of the book, which was written more as an information source and strategy guide, rather than thoughtful reflections on ther game and its protagonists.

I'm not really explaining it well, it was hilarious in a nice way, believe me we wish we could've written the whole guide in his style.

No no, you're explaining it fine. It was a more personal account of the writer's approach to Soul Calibur, rather then an unobstructed source of knowledge.

But they sound like cool guys, so if there's a chance I can read more of their stuff, I'd be all up for that. Maybe one day eh?

I'm pleased some people actually read the text we put in there. There are many more little easter eggs crammed in there for you guys to find.

I really wish we could've kept JAG's initial drafts for his character sections though. They were more like essays on the game, the characters and his love for SC in general, rather than guide texts. I wanted to put all of them into a section at the end entitled 'letters from JAG'. They mainly consisted in, for example, his thoughts on how to approach the game with Maxi, to explore the character, to be creative and to enjoy the game while playing it. It would have had interludes from Saitoh pointing out that JAG advocates creativity and exploration, but actually spams the same two moves over and over again while fighting. Then the final comment would have been awarded to Dag who would've concluded that JAG was, in fact, correct.

I realise upon reading that that none of it makes any sense now, but.. ah, good times.

The guide is fantastic. Easily the most informative one I've read for a fighter. Looking forward to more from you guys in the future!
