It's an allusion to wetworks, or perhaps the sexualization of the protagonist. Which I guess is apropo for a grindhouse exploitation film, which the game aspires to allude to, so does that make it okay as a marketing gimmick for an otherwise mediocre title? I've tried it. I advise you try it. Is it any good? The game has a fantastic soundtrack, but the action is more style than substance and before your 90 millionth slow-motion dive you will be bored to pieces with it. If you manage to put up with it you may play through it once to see the story but you probably won't ever pick it up again after that. The red white and black cell shading segments are gorgeous artistically, but the game still plays the same. The main selling point of this game is presentation, which might be excusable in a movie but when it comes at the cost of gameplay, unforgivable in a game. Also the heorin Rubi is sexy and detailed but her enemies mostly look like they walked out of Half-life one. Or a mod for that game. The same holds true for the environments. Most enemies are simplistic and blocky with bad animations. The film grain effect that covers much of the game is a boon to hiding the lack of detail, you can turn it off and on, leave it on. The combat is too simplistic, there's a combo system but not a whole lot you can do with it due to a limited number of attacks and little difference in what you use, Rubi is virtually invincible in slow motion and there's no point to not doing the whole game in slow mo because fighting otherwise is pathetically ineffective. Also you never run out of slow motion. This isn't like a Max Payne or Stranglehold where the slow motion was a resource to be husbanded and used tactically, you can literally slow mo anytime you want. While it's nice to not be left sitting on a pile of nukes you may need at some point in the future, there's also shockingly little joy when strategy and planning are removed all together.
Bottom line. Feel free to rent it. Don't buy it.
