Dark Souls

Is there any sort of trade system in this game? That would be interesting to know. I have some gear that you could likely use, John.

I'd appreciate it. And I have no idea. I've been wanting to co-op with somebody but the people I've run into haven't been real chatty. They silently kill a boss and then silently leave. I was invaded once, and I laid a trap with my location, but the invader left before we encountered each other. I suspect the emotes are because voice chat is disabled by the game? But I wouldn't know. Nobody is willing to sit there and help me figure it out, probably on account of being strangers. Maybe they just didn't have/didn't bother with mics.

Party Chat puts you in Offline Mode, but Private Chat still works, so if we are ever in a game we could just use that. I'm still around level 32 (I don't get to play often, lol) so if you are in that range I'll see what I have and we can try to coordinate something. I may have some gear that would help you.

I've been playing a slow, heavy hitting knight with a lot of health and armor and not a lot of speed and I'm able to mix it up with enemies very well. Nothing has really given me a problem yet. The only enemy that had a move that I would refer to as "cheap" would be the Titanite Demon, because he had a move where he leapt into the air and it caused my character to lose the auto lock-on tagged to the demon, so I didn't know where he would land and usually resulted in me taking some damage.

But like I said, I've Recovered every time since my last death except on the opening bridge to Blighttown, so I think I'm doing alright. I agree on the importance of bows though. And try to stack some humanity on you before going into areas with Basilisks. Just one humanity works wonders on your resistances.

Yeah Blight town is a pain in the ass, what with the toxin snipers the shit ogres, the fucking mosquitoes, the other shit ogres, the fire breathing bugs, oh and the poison swamp can't forget the poison swamp! There is a shortcut from blight town to New Lando Ruins from what my friend was telling me. You need to take the water wheel up then climb some ladders and you open a shortcut to new lando but you will be jumped by ghost so I suggest running your ass off as soon as you see one. My friend also told me that the same shortcut can take you to the valley of the drakes, but I'm sure you don't want to go there considering the Drakes have high health and deal a lot of damage, though killing them gives you 500 souls per drake which is a lot of souls in the beginning of the game.

that is just the back/easy way in and out of blight town. i went that way and the whole thing took me like 20 min total.

i think i broke the game. i had a REALLY hard time at first because of my build (pure pyro...VIT/END/ATTUN) and was worried it would never work out and get OP like my pure mage builds do in every RPG i play...but it did.

now i have beaten gaping dragon/qeelaag/sif/golem all in one try without using flasks or skills of any sort. lol. i just see a boss, equip the heaviest armor i have (stone armor +3 currently), cast iron skin and i can eat unlimited damage without getting scratched. add to that my two sorcery rings and +20 glove combustion spam at 1K damage per cast and everything in the game drops like a fly. this is the first time my *mage* can out tank any strength build in an RPG. in the lost city now, looking for the two boss guys everyone rages over so i can one shot rape them. the most frustrating thing i have to deal with in bosses is the 30 seconds after they die that i can't walk because of the iron skin.

pyro is brooooooooooooooken.

So I died against the boss of Anor Lando (sp?) more than all the other bosses I've fought combined. I'm positive that fight would be easier if you were a magic user, or if your only good weapon wasn't a Lightning Zweihander +3. Now I like my weapon a lot mind you, and it messes junk up, but in 2 on 1 fight against things that tend not flinch when hit, much less get knocked over, it's really not so ideal...

eventually won by being super pro...
