Always travel with enough funds to do what you need plus a little extra incase of an emergency. Traveling with no funds is not much fun and other people get really annoyed.

THIS. Always bring more than you think you will need and put some money away from your spending money in case something happens. Also remember that the bus fucking sucks and will always take longer than the estimated time they give you.

When I went to EVO the bus ride was supposed to take 6 hours, it ended up taking around 9 hours and the bus was crowded for the entire trip. It is probably the cheapest option though so you get what you pay for.

Two words enjoyed for my 1st major for EVO 2012 or three words: ROAD TRIP EXPERIENCE!!! (I think traveling with friends is the best; however, that's just me.)

Generally it's good to have contingency plans if your accommodation, ride etc opts to crap out on you for whatever reason.
