slavishly means to be blindly devoted which means obsessed. If these ppl have any other interests then they are therefore not a geek by that definition. I'd rather ppl have a slight chance of CONSIDERING you a nerd than no chance... no chance means you're stupid..lol. And to that, a lot of these "pro gamers" come off as high and stupid in the general phrasing of the term which also would easily make them not a "nerd" by that def.

That being said... being a "pro gamer".. honestly is no different than going and gambling or playing golf in the sense of how money works. If they can make a living off of gaming more power too them. I just don't see anyone being able to ACTUALLY do that. I just know Justin wong and whomever must work at pizza hut or live with their parents to get by in this economy.

It's just a matter of stereo-type. Basically the general public would imagine pro-gamers as ppl with thick lens glass with buck teeth sticking out (of course I'm kinda exaggerating). But of course if you ever been to tournaments and such you don't often see these kinds of ppl as the general public would imagine. They're just normal ppl like you see other ppl in everyday life.

Just by looking at ppl such as these I've listed they were not even close to looking even nerdy. Nor are they nerdy at all.

The whole term "nerd" in short is just one big stereotype. It as simple as that. There really isnt' a point to try and find its "real" meanign beyond an already defined definition. Everything else is merely conjecture. When you say "you are acting like a black guy"... there is defining fact of what a black person is (a person with black skin tone)... and then there is the stereotype of what a black person is. With the term nerd there is only the stereotype since it is not a race or gender.


random aside... it sickens me that so many ppl horribly mis-use the term "ironic, irony" ... ...
 
Well, i think we figured it out. We are all obsessed with finding out what a nerd is so... we are all nerds. Fucking nerds.
